Guide for Choosing Insect Net: Mesh Count, Weight, and What to Use Where
When choosing insect net, it's always a balance: need to stop bugs, but still let air and light go through, and also need the net to be strong enough. Mesh count mainly decides bug-blocking and airflow. Weight (gsm) mainly decides strength and how long it lasts.
1. Choose by Mesh Count (how small the holes are)  

Mesh count = how many holes per square inch. More mesh = smaller holes.

Low mesh (20-40 mesh): good airflow, basic bug control
1. Use for stopping big insects: moths, cabbage butterfly, beetles, grasshoppers, etc.

2. Works for most leafy vegetables and fruit trees.

3. Good airflow so the greenhouse doesn't get too hot.

4. But: cannot stop very tiny bugs like aphids, thrips, whitefly.

Middle mesh (40-60 mesh): most common, balanced choice
1. Stops big insects and also blocks some small insects.

2. Good for most vegetables like tomato, cucumber, pepper, also flowers and strawberries.

3. Good balance between bug blocking and ventilation.

High mesh (60-80+ mesh): for very tiny insects
1. Stops whitefly, aphids, thrips, leaf miners. These guys spread plant virus.

2. Used for seedling nursery, tissue culture, high-value crops, tobacco nursery, test fields.

3. Airflow and light will go down, greenhouse may get hot. Need better management.

 Weight = grams per square meter. Heavier = thicker yarn = stronger and lasts longer.

Light weight (50-80 GSM): soft, cheap, shorter life

Standard weight (80-120 GSM): most used
1. Good balance of strength and flexibility.

2. Used in most farm greenhouses, fruit orchards, fixed tunnels.

3. Can handle normal wind and sun. Lifespan is okay.

Heavy weight (120+ GSM): strong and long-lasting
1. For big greenhouses, windy areas near sea, mountain high UV, hail zones.
